FAQs

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can make an appointment directly with a physiotherapist. Some medical aid packages require a referral, so if you wish to claim from your medical aid, it’s a good idea to check with them.

How does physiotherapy work?

Physiotherapists are trained to make a careful assessment and treat the patient as a whole, taking their lifestyle and circumstances into account. The practitioner and patient work together to restore full function as quickly and efficiently as possible. During the treatment process the patient will learn practical ways to look after their bodies at home, work and at play. Aquiring knowledge and building stronger more resilient bodies empower patients to take control of their recovery and limit future injuries.

What happens if Physiotherapy is not appropriate for my problem?

Physios are trained as first line practitioners and will refer you on to an appropriate practitioner who would be better able to assist you.
